The Running Culture Trend: Between Sports and Lifestyle
SMAN Karangpandan Joins the Runner Culture Trend in Classmeet Activities
KARANGPANDAN, September 30, 2025 — As part of the 2025 classmeet program, SMAN Karangpandan held a running event inspired by the Runner Culture (Pelari Kalcer) trend. The event, adapted under the name Fun & Run, follows the viral craze among running communities and social media. It took place on Friday (Sept. 26) as part of the school’s fitness and creativity agenda during the academic break.
The Runner Culture Trend: Between Sports and Lifestyle😎🏃
Recently, the term Runner Culture has gained popularity on social media. These runners not only focus on physical performance but also pay great attention to appearance, outfits, and running equipment—including apps like Strava to track fitness, smartwatches, stylish sportswear, and other accessories.🥇🎖️
SMAN Karangpandan’s Appreciation of Student Trends⏰
Through the classmeet, the school saw an opportunity to leverage this phenomenon as a way to spark students’ interest in exercise. The Culture-style run emphasized not only speed but also the creativity and appearance of each participant.⭐🔥
According to the organizing committee, students were allowed to wear their favorite running gear—ranging from brightly colored sports shoes, patterned sports shirts, to accessories such as smartwatches and headbands—as long as they were safe and followed school rules.
Runners started from the school gate and completed a distance of 3.5 kilometers before returning to the school. The fastest recorded time was 15 minutes and 57 seconds with a pace of 5. “Wow, impressive!” one organizer commented.🔥💥
Pros and Cons of the Runner Culture Trend in Schools🏷️
The event received both positive responses and some criticism. On the positive side, the Running Culture trend motivated students who previously lacked interest in sports—showing them that exercise can be both stylish and share-worthy.
However👀, some concerns were raised that the focus on appearance might overshadow the importance of function and safety. Sports observers noted that this trend could put students at risk of injury if they neglect proper technique or safety measures.📍
The Runner Culture activity at SMAN Karangpandan demonstrates how a viral trend can be adapted in the educational environment to encourage physical activity among students. With proper management and supervision—ensuring that fitness and safety remain the top priorities—such innovations can serve as an engaging alternative to boost interest in sports.
It is hoped that this activity will continue from year to year so that it is not just a seasonal event, and is an encouragement for all of us.👏
